Common Ground Alliance
The Common Ground Alliance (CGA) would like to remind pond builders to make the FREE call to 811 so they know what's under the ground before they dig, to
avoid dangerous situations. According to the CGA an underground utility line is damaged once every three minutes, potentially causing personal injury,
property damage, repair costs, fines and neighborhood problems.
By calling 811 you're connected to a local call center who notifies the proper
utility companies of your upcoming project. They then send out a Professional Locator to mark the underground lines with spray paint and flags. Even small
digging projects like trees and mailboxes warrant a call to the CGA. After-all, it's better to be safe
then sorry.
